Has your girl crew ever tasked you to devise a plan for a bride-to-be in your circle? Even if you enjoy organizing events, the sheer range of available themes and ideas can leave you feeling overwhelmed.
Which colors do you work with? Which flower types will be ideal? How do you make your friend’s day stand out from all the other showers you’ve celebrated?
You don’t have to hire an expensive venue for a bridal shower to be special. A little bit of DIY magic and clever use of commonly available items can turn a simple home bridal shower into an unforgettable event. Here are some ideas to get your creative juices flowing.
Create a Balloon Arch
A balloon arch is a common feature on wedding days, but who says you can’t deploy one during the bridal shower? You can order your balloon arch from a local décor specialist, or you could save some extra cash and do it yourself. It is not as hard as you imagine if you have little time and a penchant for DIY.
Before you get the necessary materials, you need to pick a theme based on things that will appeal to the lady of the hour. Then, you can reach out to the groom-in-waiting to make sure you get it right. Once you have settled on a theme, you can buy enough balloons of the appropriate color.
You can make the creation of the balloon arch a fun day with the girls by keeping it spiced up with your favorite snacks. You can also come up with fun custom bridal shower invitations for all the guests.
Light Some Candles
Candles are underrated regarding the effect they can have on the ambiance of a room. With the right candles, you can make the dinner at your bridal shower a time to remember. Scented candles have the added advantage of adding a soothing aroma to the moment.
Decorating your dining table with well-chosen votive candles that speak to the day’s theme can strengthen guests’ emotional connection to the event. Imagine sharing intimate memories with the bride-to-be in the soft glow of the candles. It can also make for share-worthy pics that will remind the bride of her last days of singlehood.
Reinvent the Cake Stand
Yes, you can have a cake stand that doesn’t actually carry a cake. Instead, get the cake stand but pile on cupcakes, sandwiches, candy, and other tasty treats instead of a singular cake. This feature will be ideal for teatime or dessert after a sumptuous dinner.
If you feel the cake stand is a little cliché, you can replace it with a cake bar. Not only will it add visual appeal to the event, but it will also offer guests more variety in the cake department. Your local baker can create the bar to suit your bridal shower theme or make it rhyme with the theme of the wedding itself.
Break Out the Candy
Favors and bridal showers go hand in hand. They can take any shape – nicely wrapped whisks, monogrammed hand towels, or gift-wrapped slices of cake with a thank-you note tied at the top, but yours don’t have to be too intricate if you don’t want to go through the trouble or expense.
You can make a well-chosen candy bar the bridal shower favors that your guests will both savor and cherish, or you could add candy to a small gift bag each guest can take home as a reminder of a memorable day.
If you already have other ideas for your favors, you can simply pour out an assortment of candy on paper plates placed randomly around the room.
Use Assorted China
You can give your bridal shower a vintage feel with tea sets that hark back to the 50s. Shop around local thrift shops for china sets that match this aesthetic. You won’t have to look hard to find dainty cups with cute flower patterns with matching side plates.
To make the setting more authentic to the time, you can scour online vintage stores for checked tablecloths – if you can find the elaborate silver teapots that beverages were poured out from back in the day, all the better.
A Winning Game Plan
When it comes to creating a unique bridal shower that will endure in your memory, the possibilities are literally endless. The only limit is your imagination.
However, doing too much and not coordinating the different elements of the event can result in an aesthetic catastrophe. You can avoid this by having a well-thought-out theme to guide you. In addition, consulting events experts can help put you on the right track.
