On hot summer days, pregnancy may be more challenging than in other seasons. However, you can have a pleasant summer pregnancy when you live by taking expert advice into account. Specialist in Obstetrics and Gynecology op. Dr. Cevahir Tekcan offers tips for summer pregnant women.

Stay safe by drinking lots of water

Drink plenty of fluids to keep your body hydrated. Low fluid consumption is common during pregnancy; urinary tract infection, and constipation and causes an increase in hemorrhoidal problems. Untreated urinary tract infection can cause many problems such as premature birth and the threat of miscarriage.

Under normal conditions, a pregnant woman should consume 2 liters of water. In the summer, this amount should consume 250-300cc of water every hour. You can drink low sodium soda to reduce the loss of electrolytes and minerals. Excessive consumption of tea and coffee must be avoided.

Pay attention to nutrition during a summer pregnancy

Minimize salt intake to combat edema that increases with heat. But don’t cut it entirely. Because you and your baby need salt. Rest with your feet elevated along with cold water baths to reduce swelling of the feet.

Use a sunscreen

Protect yourself from the sun’s rays and the sun. Sensitivity, dryness, and blemishes are frequently observed in the skin due to the increase in hormones during pregnancy. Use sunscreen with a factor of at least 30 when you go out in the sun.

These will prevent blemishes and help protect you from the damaging effects of the sun. When sunbathing, sunbathe in the shade and preferably with a shirt. For your dry skin, use moisturizers after a shower.

Take hot showers often

Take frequent hot showers to prevent hot flashes. The splashed water you take with you will help cool you down.

Consume Ayran and yogurt

Cold yogurt and milk-based fruit drinks also help cool down. These foods also meet the calcium requirement during pregnancy.

Avoid heavy meals

Avoid foods that increase reflux, such as acidic foods and foods containing barbecue sauces, when going out in the sun or for dinner. Also, in the evening, choose lighter and more digestible foods instead of excessively caloric and heavy foods and do not go to bed for at least an hour after eating. This will also help you sleep comfortably.

Do light exercises

Limit rapid weight gain through exercise. Exercise preferences can be used for swimming, walking, and cycling. Create a chance and swim. With swimming, you can exercise almost all the muscles in your body and, at the same time, you can relax psychologically. You can use the sea for swimming and the pools of which you are sure of their hygienic state.
